UKReg has been bringing Fasthosts services to customers for over 24 years, but the time has come to say goodbye. But all is not lost! The main Fasthosts site offers all of the services UKReg did, and many more. Here’s a little bit about the history of UKReg, and where you can find domains, hosting, email, and anything else you’d like to purchase to power your projects.

A brief history

In the beginning – UKReg was born in 1999, a year after Fasthosts, created as a domain registration service to support our main business.

Fun fact – when UKReg was first launched, we only sold 6 TLDs. Compare that to the whopping 250+ that we offer now and the progress is massive!

Progress – For the past 25 years, it’s remained open as another way for our customers to access our services, moving them from that site to ours to choose their domain package. Since its launch, we’ve expanded our products and services to offer everything a business might need to grow its online presence and succeed, which is why we no longer need UKReg.

2006 – We began to integrate the UKReg registration and domain management process into the Fasthosts Control Panel. This meant that our customers now had one login to manage all of their products with us.

2007 – We began the process of cutting down the amount of steps that relied on UKReg. For example, searching for a domain redirected you from UKReg to our website. This would make the domain registration journey easier and keep it all in one place.

Today – And that’s where we are now. UKReg has almost completely been absorbed by our main site, with most links redirecting you straight to us. Because of this, we’ve decided to close UKReg.
